Welcome to the music association BEL CANTO Ueckermünde eV

The music association BEL CANTO Ueckermünde e. V. is the address for classical singing. For us, the voices of the people are paramount. They are a unique instrument in many ways and inspire us with their diversity and individuality. Therefore, as an association, we have made it our task to promote young singing talents. At the same time, it is important to us to actively help shape the cultural landscape of our region. We regularly organize concerts for classical music, which attract listeners from Ueckermünde and the surrounding area.

We also organize international singing competitions online to encourage singers around the world to make their voices heard.

If you too would like to enjoy a classical concert with arias, songs and duets, we look forward to your visit.

BEL CANTO Christmas concert in the Bürgersaal

On Saturday, 13 December 2025, a fantastic Christmas concert took place in the Bürgersaal of the town hall in Ueckermünde, organised by the music association BEL CANTO Ueckermünde e.V. and the seaside resort town of Ueckermünde. Singers from Germany, Poland and China took part in the concert. The region was represented by students from the Uecker-Randow district music school. Gerda Manthey (soprano) and Johann-Daniel Schwebs (baritone), accompanied on the piano by Romuald Kalischewski, performed traditional as well as lesser-known German Christmas carols. Gerda Manthey, who made her debut in the Bel Canto concert series, also sang an old Italian aria, ‘Vittoria, Vittoria’ by Giacomo Carissimi. The students and graduates of the Szczecin University of Arts presented artistic Christmas carols (presented by baritone Piotr Figielski, a graduate of Prof. Dr. Paweł Wolski's singing class) as well as numerous pieces from the world repertoire in the Christmas programme. Dominika Szapar, a student in Dr Friederike Meinel's singing class. No less spectacular were the pieces by Johann Strauss, which marked the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth.

Soprano Liu Yaxuan and mezzo-soprano Weronika Włodarczyk (both students of Prof. Dr. Dr. Sylwia Burnicka-Kalischewski's singing class) delighted the audience as Adele and Prince Orlovski in the operetta ‘Die Fledermaus’ and in the duet Arsena & Mirabella ‘So full of joy’ from the operetta ‘The Gypsy Baron’. The enchanted audience also enjoyed listening to the other duets, which the young artists interpreted effortlessly and with humour. Weronika Włodarczyk and Piotr Figielski chose two pieces: ‘Vergebliches Ständchen’ by Johannes Brahms and ‘Ich wollt`meine Lieb`ergösse sich’ by Felix Mendelssohn, to demonstrate not only their beautiful voices but also their acting talent, while Liu Yaxuan and Weronika Włodarczyk performed ‘Laudamus Te’ from Antonio Vivaldi's ‘Gloria’, Duet Niklas & Giulietta ‘Schöne Nacht, du Liebesnacht’ from Offenbach's ‘The Tales of Hoffmann’ and Humperdinck's duet ‘Brüderchen, komm, tanz mit mir’ from the opera ‘Hansel and Gretel’. In the duet ‘Reich mir die Hand, mein Leben’ from Mozart's ‘Don Giovanni’, the title character (Piotr Figielski) tried to charmingly seduce the simple girl Zerlina (Liu Yaxuan). Maciej Skowronek accompanied the students soulfully on the piano. The enthusiastic audience, who gave the singers warm applause after each performance, stood up at the end and, with the support of the evening's conductor Heidi Michaelis, sang the traditional Christmas carol ‘O du fröhliche’ together with the guests on stage. After the concert, there were many compliments for the artists and the phrase ‘It was wonderful again!’ was repeated often.

The concert was hosted by Heidi Michaelis and Prof. Dr. Dr. Sylwia Burnicka-Kalischewski.
